What is this platform for?

Internal AIGC Platform

A design platform for internal DiDi designers, utilizing AIGC to quickly generate daily operational materials.

DiDi is China's largest ride-hailing platform, with a user base of 528 million. The demand for materials and designs needed for daily operations and maintenance is immense.

Key Feature 1

AIGC-Powered Deisgn Generation:

Enables rapid creation of daily operational materials.

Key Feature 2

Online Editing Tools for Design Elements

Allows designers to personalize layouts, colors, and text for unique requirements.

Key Feature 3

Automated Versioning:

Tracks design iterations and automatically saves previous versions for easy access.

Identify Problems

Problem Statement

Low Platform Usage

Due to the web platform's inability to meet the needs of internal designers, 80% of designs are not completed through it, resulting in low platform usage.

Target Audience

Operational Designers at Didi.

"I often need to quickly design daily operational materials, but this platform requires extra time to modify images after generation, ultimately costing more time."

Project Goal

How might we improve web functionality to better serve designers' needs and attract more active users?

Research Methods

  1. Internal interviews : To uncover internal designer's needs, usage scenarios, and unsatisfied issues with the current version.

  1. Feasibility Discussion : What technologies and resources can be utilized to enhance functionality and user experience?

In-depth Research

Internal Interview —— 14 Designers from Different Business Lines

What factors limit a better experience at this platform for internal designers?
Key Insights:
  1. Single image size, while daily materials require adaptation to various sizes.

  1. Limited localized customization, with manual adjustments taking much time.

  1. Single style, while different business lines require various style templates.

  1. Limited templates and design elements hinder usage efficiency.

Feasibility Discussion — with Technical Staff

What technologies and resources can be utilized to enhance functionality and user experience?

01

Size extension

Using masks to control whitespace for positioning of text.

02

Localized adjustments.

Redraw localized sections without manual drawing adjustments.

03

More styles and materials

More styles and materials adapted to different business lines.

Develop concept

Design Solutions

Adding more functions and styles to better meet internal designers' needs and align with various business lines.

How we tackle the users' pain points?

Problem: Single image size, whereas daily materials need adaptation to various sizes.

Solutions: Enhance size extension functionality to support the most common sizes while maintaining whitespace for text.

Problem: Lack of localized content adjustment, and manual adjustments are too time-consuming.

Solutions: Add AI localized redrawing and one-click removal for subtle adjustments while maintaining the main image.

Problem: Single style, while different business lines require various style templates.

Solutions: Select and filter different design styles to better align with various and diverse business needs.

Problem: Limited templates and design elements hinder usage efficiency.

Solutions: Uploading more templates and models for typical elements to enhance reuse within the community.

Concept Test

To evaluate the effectiveness of the new solutions, we conduct tests on these functions by simulating typical scenarios.

01

Size extension

Test the success rate of size extension.

02

Testing the new styles

best adapts to the business lines.

03

Expanding templates and elements

new models to generate typical elements.

Results from the Tests:

  1. 7 sizes available for extension. Since extending all 7 sizes at once takes too long, users can choose which size to extend.

  1. Selected 6 additional styles for different business lines.

  1. 30 templates and 4 element-generation models have been added.

Prototype

Low-Fidelity Interfaces

Solutions: Enhance size extension functionality to support the most common sizes.

Solutions: Add AI localized redrawing and one-click removal for subtle adjustments.

Deliver

Delivery of New Features

Solutions: Enhance size extension functionality to support the most common sizes.

Solutions: Add AI localized redrawing and one-click removal for subtle adjustments.

Solutions: Select and filter different design styles to better align with various and diverse business needs.

Solutions: Uploading more templates and models for typical elements to enhance reuse within the community.

Added cars, red envelopes, and a total of 4 models to the resources, generating typical elements of Didi and commonly used labels in Chinese internet culture.

Retro

Reflections

Increased Output: The number of works generated by designers has increased from 2,000 to 4,200, reflecting a 110% rise in productivity.
Higher User Engagement: The proportion of active users on the DX platform has grown from 30% to 70%, indicating a significant boost in user engagement and satisfaction.
Cost reduction and efficiency improvement: By implementing the new features, the company is expected to save approximately 30% on image purchasing costs and reduce designers' time by about 200 hours annually.
Overall Impact: These advancements highlight the effectiveness of the new features and the platform's increasing adoption among designers, leading to a more efficient and engaging design process.
